These charming little birds are found in parts of the Eastern Cape and in the north eastern parts of South Africa. Pairs and small flocks occur in waterside grass and reeds and in the tall reed grasses in savanna grasslands. They are very active and hop about constantly, flicking their tails and wings. They eat soft shoots and insects.
